ALERT: N25 Waterford-Cork road closed following early-morning crash involving three trucks

Gardai have confirmed a section of the N25, which links Cork city and Waterford city, has been closed following the early-morning collision

A number of people have been injured following a multi-vehicle road crash on one of the busiest roads in the country.

Gardaí have confirmed that a section of the N25, which links Waterford city and Cork city, has been closed following the early-morning collision.

Local diversions are in place.

"Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a four-vehicle road traffic collision involving three trucks and one car that occurred on the N25 at Ballyhobert, Youghal, Co. Cork, at approximately 6:55 a.m.," said a spokesperson.

No further information is available, but it is understood that up to seven people have been injured, and some have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Investigations are ongoing, and the road, which serves Rosslare Europort in Wexford, is likely to be closed for some time.
