Young Waterford woman joins new TG4 series lifting the lid on life for Gen Zs in Ireland

A Waterford native will be among the voices featured in a brand-new TG4 series, shining a light on the lives of Ireland's Generation Z.

Méin Nic Craith, from An Rinn in the Waterford Gaeltacht, is one of 12 young people taking part in Glúin Z, which airs on TG4 from Thursday, September 11 at 8pm.

The four-part documentary series offers a candid look at the challenges and opportunities facing today's youth, from struggles with housing and the cost of living to issues of identity, culture, and the environment.

Filmed across Ireland, the series follows participants at pivotal moments in their lives as they navigate independence, education, careers and relationships.

Méin, now studying at UCD and living in Teach na Gaeilge, remains immersed in the traditions of language and music that shaped her childhood in An Rinn.

Her story will appear in episode three, which explores identity and how young people express themselves.

Each episode of Glúin Z will spotlight different issues: the first delves into the housing and cost of living crisis, the second examines personal challenges, the third explores identity and culture, while the final episode looks to the future and how this generation aims to shape it.

Alongside Méin, the series also features Colm Ó hÓgáin, Aoibhín Ní Dheagha, Sinéad Ní Riain, Máirtín Ó Cathasaigh, Seán' Fitzy' Fitzgerald, Cúnla Ní Bhraonáin Morris, Tadhg Ó Griffin, Franz Sauerland, Clódagh Ní Mhocháin, Barra Ó hÉineacháin, and Aoife de Bhál.

Producers say the series aims to give Gen Z "a unique, honest and entertaining" platform to share their stories in their own words, with contributors drawn from Gaeltacht communities, student life, politics, sport and the arts.

Glúin Z begins on Thursday, September 11, at 8 pm on TG4.
