A popular Waterford pub is planning an extension, with a number of apartments set to form part of its new design.
A planning application, which has been submitted by Basebay Ltd, has revealed plans for an extension to The Craftsman in Waterford city.
The pub, at an address of 2 Tyrone Road, Waterford city, is particularly popular among students from the South East Technological University (SETU).
An existing single storey section of the public house will be demolished to make space for the extension.

A two and three storey extension will then be constructed to the rear of the building.
This development will contain three ground floor residential units, three duplex units on the second floor and an extension to the existing pub on the ground floor.
The internal layout of the pub will be reconfigured as part of the works. Elevational modifications will also be undertaken.
The application is subject to being deemed valid by Waterford City and County Council. If validated, a decision will be expected by February 3, 2026.
