‘Very sad news’ - Popular Waterford mini-farm announces permanent closure

Copper Coast Mini Farm in Fenor, County Waterford has announced its permanent closure.

The farm’s manager, Tanya Power, made the announcement on social media on New Year’s Eve.

The post stated: “It is with great sadness that I have to announce the permanent closure of Copper Coast Mini Farm.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who played their part in making the mini farm a great place to visit.

“No doubt there were many wonderful memories made here over the past 22 years. From the owners, to the staff, volunteers and the animals, with all my heart I thank you.

“And to all of you who have taken the time to visit Copper Coast Mini Farm, a huge thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you all over the years.”

Ms Power added that the planned animal therapy facility, which was due to open at the farm this year, will no longer be available.

However, an alternative premises for the facility will be sought.

Ms Power continued: “It’s been a privilege to work with such great staff, visitors and animals over the years. I will miss you all very much.

“To a happier and brighter 2026 with new beginnings, Happy New Year.”

The social media post received a wide number of reactions, with the vast majority of commenters expressing their sadness at the closure of the farm.

One user commented: “Ah no, we had some of the best birthday parties ever out in Copper Coast Farm. We will really miss it.

“Wishing you every success in the future and a very happy and successful New Year.”

Another stated: “The very best of luck to you all and thank you for the many years of birthday parties, school tours and summer programme outings that we thoroughly enjoyed.

“You all played a big part in many memories made for families far and wide. You will be missed.”

One commenter said the Copper Coast Mini-Farm was “an amazing natural place for people to enjoy”, adding that it gave children “freedom and a safe place to play and explore”.

In the days that followed, the farm posted a follow-up statement in which it thanked everyone for their well wishes.

The owners reassured followers that the animals are in safe hands, with some staying at the site as family pets whilst others are moved on to carefully vetted new homes.

They added that the property will stay with the family and function as a family home moving forward.
