RIP: 'I will forever be grateful'- Messages pour in after Waterford woman sadly dies

Rest in peace Rachel Farrell (née O'Connell)

Messaged have poured in on RIP.ie following the sad passing of a Waterford woman who was well-known and loved in her community.

Rachel Farrell (née O'Connell) was from Kerrylodge, Green Road, Butlerstown in Waterford and formerly Abbeydorney in Kerry.

She passed away on January 12th 2026.

Rachel worked for O'Connell Meskill Chartered Accountants and was the much loved wife of Paul and adored mother of Daniel, Rebecca, Ryan and Colin.

She will be sadly missed by her mother Joan, brother Trevor, sisters Lorraine, Imelda, Ashling and Edel, mother-in-law Eileen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and her wide circle of friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Rachel, with one mourner writing,

"She was such an admirable and warm person, and I will forever be grateful for the support and encouragement she gave me at the start of my career in the years I worked with O Connell Meskill. My thoughts are with you all, and Rachel's colleagues and friends. May she rest in peace".

Another message said, "Really shocking to hear that Rachel has now joined her loving dad Declan. Such a strong, hardworking and successful woman and an adoring mum. Sending Paul and her children huge amounts of strength at this difficult time. To Joan, Trev, Lorraine, Aisling, Edel and extended family, sincere sympathy, love and strength to you all".

"Sincerest sympathy to Joan and the O'Connell family, to Paul and the Farrell family along with Rachel's friends and colleagues on the untimely death of a beautiful young lady. May her gentle soul rest in the arms of her beloved father, Declan," another person said.
