RIP: 'He was some craic' - Waterford man to be cremated in London as tributes flow
Tribute are being paid to Waterford native Nicholas De Paor (Power) who has died in London.
Formerly of Lower Newtown, Waterford and late of Acton, London, Nicky as he was known to many friends and family passed away on February 13th with a Waterford funeral mass to take place soon.
Nicky was pre-deceased by his father Herbert (Buddy) Power and will be "sadly missed by his loving wife Kimberly, mother Betty, sister Sonya, nephew Calum, parents-in-laws Pauline and Peter, sister-in-law Christy, brother-in-law Shane, niece Lexi, nephew Liam, aunts, uncles, extended family, neighbours and very close friends," according to his RIP.ie death notice.
Among the condolences being left for his family, one friend said: "Heartbroken on Nicky's passing, my great friend, amazing times we shared, now treasured memories I'll hold onto. Sincere condolences Kimberly, Betty, Sonya and family, thinking of you all. Rest in Peace Nicky, love you bud."
Another tribute read: "To Kim, Betty, Sonia, Callum & extended family. So heartbroken to hear of Nicky's untimely passing. An absolute gentleman, full of positivity, divilment and craic. Will be missed dearly and remembered fondly. Grá agus meas, a chara."

A former colleague said: "Deepest sympathies. Nicky worked with me as a blocklayer, he was some craic, the laughs we had, sadly misssed, a gem."
A further message read: "Very sad to hear of Nicky’s passing. He was a lovely chap, a genuine young fella, always laughing and having fun, my sincerest condolences to Betty, Sonia and all the family. Rest in Peace, Nicky."
Funeral Arrangements:
A funeral service will be held in Mortlake Crematorium in London on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 11.20am.
A second funeral mass will be held in Waterford at a later date. Details to follow.
