Gardaí hunt man caught on stairs of Waterford home on Christmas Eve as family slept

Gardaí in Dungarvan are seeking help in identifying a man who was caught breaking into a home on Christmas Eve of last year. 

An EvoFIT image of the man was shown on the latest episode of RTÉ's Crimecall on Monday, March 30.

He was caught breaking into a house on the Upper College Road in Ardmore, Co. Waterford.

Around 4:45am, he was seen coming up the stairs of a private house where a family was asleep.

Someone then disturbed the man, and he quickly fled the scene.

He is of average height, roughly 5ft 9 or 10 inches, with a slim build. 

The suspect has short black hair and a black beard. 

He was wearing a navy windbreaker jacket and dark tracksuit pants at the time of the incident. 

Garda Reserve, Mervyn Huston, who was outlining the incident on Crimecall, described him as having an "overall neat and tidy" appearance. 

Anyone who might recognise the man is asked to get in touch either by contacting Dungarvan Garda Station on (058) 48600 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
