A petition has been set up requesting that Kilkenny County Council review the speed transition at the static speed camera on the N25 Glenmore to Waterford Road.

It is calling for a review of the speed limit transition from 100km/h to 80km/h "over a short distance."

The recently installed static speed camera is located shortly after the lower speed limit begins, with drivers questioning whether there is adequate time to slow down.

Many drivers are receiving fines and penalty points as a result.

"The 100 km/h speed limit sign is positioned before a slight bend in the road, the road then quickly leads into the lower 80 km/h speed limit zone. This may not allow sufficient distance for drivers to safely and gradually reduce speed before reaching the fixed speed camera," the petition page states.

Kilkenny County Council is being asked to review the speed limit transition distance from 100 km/h to 80 km/h, review the placement and visibility of the speed limit signage, consider additional advance warning signage before the reduced speed limit, and to ensure the road layout prioritises safety, clarity, and fair enforcement.
