'Travelling salons' offering feedback and connection coming to multiple towns across Waterford

A new group has been formed, bringing together creative people from all across Co. Waterford.

The Waterford Creative Network(WCN) brought together an eclectic mix of creatives at its first monthly meeting in March at the Waterford Gallery of Art.

Started by Niamh Ni Chearbhaill, a visual artist and long-time networker, the group will provide opportunities to network, collaborate and gain creative-industry knowledge and support.

There are three ways to use the network: attend the travelling salon, take part in group projects, or join the WCN online network on social media and the WCN website.

The travelling salon, which is a meeting in which creatives can share their work and receive feedback, will visit a different town each month, ending in Waterford City.

The towns involved are Lismore, Ardmore, Dunmore East, Kilmacthomas, Tallow, Portlaw, Ring, Cappoquin, Tramore, and Dungarvan.

People can also benefit from listening to speakers, networking and sharing contacts, and getting support at the salons.

The hunt is currently on to find venues, speakers and sponsors for each of these stops, with the next one being in Lismore Heritage Centre at 11 am on April 25th.

There will be a twenty-minute talk on how to apply for funding, a chance to network, learn about what the group is doing, share creative works and get feedback.

WCN welcomes all students, emerging or professional creatives, musicians, photographers, film makers, artists, crafters, writers, performers, and more who live or work in Waterford City or County.

New members are welcome at meetings and online.
