A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Waterford today (Thursday November 24).
According to Met Éireann, very strong and gusty south to southwest winds can be expected with the potential for wave overtopping.
The warning - which also covers Wexford, Cork and Kerry - is in place from 5am until 11am today.
A band of rain will be followed by sunny spells and showers, which will turn heavier and more prolonged later in the day. Thunder and hail is possible.
Highest temperatures will be between 9 to 13 degrees.
Tonight, there will be clear spells and scattered showers.
It will stay breezy with a moderate to fresh west to southwest wind, strong at times near the coast.
Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees.
A Status Yellow Gale warning is also in place for all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish sea, where winds will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 at times.
The alert for all Irish coasts is valid until 5pm today, while a further Status Yellow gale warning has been issued for Howth Head to Dungarvan to Loop Head until 2pm tomorrow (Friday November 25).
