GALLERY: Arrival of Gardaí to Waterford coastal town 100 years ago celebrated with march

The arrival of Gardaí to Dungarvan 100 years ago has been celebrated with a march through town.

The march - led by Assistant commissioner Paul Cleary, Chief Superintendent Padraig Dunne, Superintendents Michael Leacy, Anthony Lonergan, Anthony Farrell and Fiona Fogarty - began at the current station and moved towards Dungarvan Castle, which was where the first members were stationed.

Accompanying them were the Garda Band, the Ceremonial Unit, serving members from the District, retired members, Garda Staff and retired Garda Staff.

Following the march a presentation event was held in Crews Dungarvan where commemorative medals, coins and certificates were presented.
