Very cold weather is to be expected this morning (December 13) with frost and any icy patches persisting through much of the day, especially in sheltered areas.
While most of the freezing fog will continue to clear a few local patches may persist.
According to Met Éireann, it will be mostly cloudy in the southern half of the country today with rain in the southwest falling as sleet or snow in places away from the coast, especially over higher ground, causing hazardous driving conditions.
Daytime temperatures between -1 to +4 degrees are expected in light to moderate northeasterly winds, fresher in the southwest.
It will be another very cold night tonight with widespread frost and some ice patches developing, and lowest temperatures of -5 to -1 degrees or locally lower.
