Annkatrin Leopold and Joanna Flynn presented their project: ‘Is it possible to clear water on your own’, at the Dungarvan College SciFest STEM Fair recently.
The EirGrid Climate and Delivering a Cleaner Energy Future award was presented to the students for their project’s innovative research.
The students’ project looked into whether or not cooking sea water would rid it of bacteria, and dirt and make the water drinkable.
Congratulating the winners, Errol Close, EirGrid’s Head of Strategy and Sustainability, said: “It is fantastic to see talented students like Annkatrin and Joanna bringing their great project idea to life. Encouraging female participation in STEM subjects is a key focus area for EirGrid.”
