Met Eireann have issued further warnings for Ireland ahead of the weekend, as the second named storm of the season is bearing down on us in the wake of heavy snowstorms.

Storm Bert will move close to Ireland this Friday, November 22, displacing the recent cold Artic airmass that brought heavy snowfalls and freezing temperatures.

Very strong winds and heavy rain will track northeastwards over the country on Friday night, and could cause localised flooding, travel disruption and fallen trees.

The warning issued by Met Eireann this Thursday morning is valid from 10pm Friday, November 22, until noon Saturday, November 23.

"Storm Bert will continue to dominate our weather through the weekend and into early next week and further warnings will be issued for this event," the national forecaster said.

A Status Yellow - Low Temperature/Ice warning for Ireland is also set to remain in place this Thursday and into Friday morning.
