LATEST: An Post issues important update ahead of historic Storm Éowyn
An Post has issued an important update to customers ahead of Storm Éowyn on Friday.
The storm is expected to hit the entire country overnight on Thursday and into Friday, with all counties being subject to a Status Red weather warning from Met Éireann.
The National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) has warned everyone to "shelter in place" on Friday as Storm Éowyn is anticipated to be "extremely dangerous, damaging and disruptive."
Following the NECG's advice to avoid all unnecessary travel, An Post has decided to suspend all postal deliveries and collections on Friday to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

Post offices will also be closed for the duration of the red warnings. An Post said that they will seek to reopen post offices once it is safe to do so and conditions allow.
The postal service plans to run letter and parcel deliveries nationwide on Saturday and open post offices as normal. However, this is subject to local road conditions and power supplies.
For anyone due to receive social welfare benefit payments on Friday, they will be available on Saturday and next week.
An Post will provide localised customer updates on their website, social media and radio channels throughout the day on Friday.
