Heavy rain and sleet to hit Ireland in coming days according to Met Éireann's latest forecast
Met Éireann's latest weather forecast indicates that we're in for some changeable weather over the coming days.
Wednesday was off to a somewhat drier start in comparison to the wet and windy days earlier this week. Wednesday night will continue to be dry with some clear spells in most places. However, there will be some scattered showers in the north and west with the possibility of sleet.
It will be a bitterly cold night with plenty of frost and ice across the country as temperatures are expected to fall between -2 and +1 degrees. Winds will be light and variable.

Thursday morning will be off to a similar dry start with just some isolated showers mainly in the north and west. Thursday will gradually become more cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle for Atlantic counties in the evening. Temperatures will reach between 5 and 9 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest wind.
Heavy rain is expected on Thursday night as rain will move eastwards across the country. Some clear spells and isolated showers will follow from the west. Thursday night will be slightly warmer with lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees.
Friday will be dry with some hazy sunny spells. Highest temperatures will range between 7 and 9 degrees throughout the day with light and variable winds.
Friday night will be cloudy with some patches of light rain or drizzle in the western half of the country. Lowest temperatures will be from 1 to 5 degrees with moderate south to southwest winds.
A wet weekend is expected as Saturday will be breezy and cloudy with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle. Heavier rain will then move into the west and southwest on Saturday evening. Highest temperatures will reach from 7 to 12 degrees.
The rain will continue into Saturday night across the country, turning heavy at times. Lowest temperatures will range from 4 to 7 degrees.
More heavy rain is due on Sunday morning. The rain is forecast to clear eastwards from most areas, leading to drier conditions later in the day. Sunday will see temperatures reach from 7 to 10 degrees.
