Met Éireann in subzero weather forecast for Ireland with big twist this week
Met Éireann has issued its weekly weather forecast for Ireland with subzero night-time temperatures, frost, ice and possible falls of hail on the way.
Their outlook for the rest of the week after the St Bridid's Day Bank Holiday Weekend predicts that it will be "mostly dry and settled for the rest of the working week," although "chilly during the nights" with "some rain next weekend."
They say Monday night will be "wet and breezy with rain, heavy at times in the south and west with spot flooding possible. Fresh and gusty southerly winds will ease overnight with lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.
"Rain will clear eastwards through the morning [on Tuesday] with sunshine and scattered showers following. Some of the showers will be heavy with hail possible in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with moderate southwest winds."
The forecast continues: "Becoming mostly dry with long clear spells as showers become isolated early in the night [on Tuesday] and become mostly confined to Atlantic coasts. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees with some frost and ice forming in light to moderate southwest breezes.

"Mostly dry with good spells of sunshine and just a few light showers possible near western and northwestern coasts [on Wednesday]. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light, occasionally moderate southwesterly breezes.
"A dry, clear and cold night [Wednesday]. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees in light southerly breezes.
"Largely dry and sunny though it may turn cloudier for a time in the southwest [on Thursday] with the chance of some patchy light rain or drizzle. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in mostly moderate, occasionally fresh southeasterly winds.
"Another mostly dry day [Friday] with spells of sunshine though cloud may gradually build from the west. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light to moderate southeasterly breezes."
Beyond that, Met Éireann says there is "some uncertainty" over next weekend but they indicate that "rain may encroach from the west at some stage but overall, plenty of dry weather is still signalled."
