It looks like we're in for a bitterly cold weekend according to the latest forecast from Met Éireann

Thursday was off to a freezing start across the country and that cold weather is set to continue into the night. Temperatures are set to drop between -1 and +1 degrees on Thursday night with widespread frost and icy patches. It will remain dry and mostly clear with light easterly winds.

Friday will be another cold frosty morning. In some good news, it is expected to stay dry and sunny in most places. However, the south and east will be slightly cloudier with light to moderate easterly winds. Highest temperatures should reach between 4 and 7 degrees.

Saturday will continue to be sunny although it will be extremely cold. Temperatures will range between 4 and 7 degrees in a light northeasterly breeze.

Saturday night will be a chilly one, with lowest temperatures of -3 to +2 degrees. Again, the east and southeast won't be as cold as the rest of the country. It will be a mostly dry night with some isolated showers here and there.

The sunny spells will come to an end on Sunday with a dull day and some light showers. Highest temperatures will range from 5 to 8 degrees in moderate easterly winds.
