Dry start to the week before big change as Met Eireann warns Ireland's dry spell won't last

Mild and dry conditions to continue across Ireland for now, but Met Éireann warns of a shift to wetter weather in time for the weekend

Dry start to the week before big change as Met Eireann warns Ireland's dry spell won't last

Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland for the coming days

Ireland is set to experience mainly dry and mild weather in the coming days, with temperatures reaching up to 13 degrees in parts of the country. However, the settled spell won’t last long as rain and showers are expected to make a return later in the week.

According to Met Éireann, high pressure will dominate early in the week, bringing mainly dry and fair conditions, though there will be plenty of cloud cover.

By Thursday, a change is expected, with an increase in showers and a band of more persistent rain pushing in from the west.

Here’s the latest forecast for the coming days:

Monday, March 3

Today will be mostly dry but cloudy, with occasional light rain or drizzle, particularly in Ulster, Connacht, and north Leinster. Some brighter spells are likely in Munster and south Leinster. Highest temperatures will range from 9 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.

Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells developing in many areas, although it will stay cloudy in Ulster and west Connacht. Lowest temperatures will range from -1 to 4 degrees, with some frost and icy patches, though milder conditions of 5 to 8 degrees will persist in cloudier areas.

Tuesday, March 4

Tuesday will be another mainly dry day, with sunny spells, especially in the morning, before high cloud moves in. It will remain cloudier in west Connacht and west Ulster. Winds will increase, becoming moderate to fresh and gusty from the southwest, stronger in coastal areas. Temperatures will range from 9 to 13 degrees.

Tuesday night will see mostly cloudy skies, with some rain and drizzle moving into Ulster and Connacht. The south of the country will remain dry, with lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees in fresh southwest winds.

Wednesday, March 5

A mix of cloud and sunshine is expected on Wednesday, with rain and drizzle clearing from Ulster in the morning. The best of the sunshine will be in Munster and Leinster. It will be another breezy day with temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in fresh southwest winds.

Thursday, March 6

A more unsettled pattern will take hold on Thursday, with showers spreading across the country. While some sunny spells are expected in the morning, increasing cloud cover will bring a band of rain into western counties later in the day. Highest temperatures will range from 9 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.

Looking ahead

Friday and the weekend are set to bring further unsettled conditions, with rain and drizzle moving northwest, followed by scattered showers. Some of these may turn heavy and thundery on Saturday. However, Sunday is expected to be milder, with temperatures reaching up to 16 degrees and more in the way of sunshine.
