ALERT: Irish people travelling to Spain or Portugal hit with major weather warning
Irish people travelling to Spain or Portugal this week have been warned to expect disruptive weather conditions as the countries continue to battle heavy rain and storms.
Parts of Spain, including the Canary Islands, have been issued weather warnings for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week due to intense rainfall. Meanwhile, Portugal is expected to see up 200mm of rain over the next week.
Storm Laurence battered parts of Malaga, Valencia and Catalonia on Tuesday, causing severe flooding in the areas. The Status Yellow weather warning remains in place on Tuesday night and will continue into Wednesday for many parts of the country.
As the wreckage of the storm continues to unfold, the next storm, Storm Martinho, was officially named on Tuesday. Storm Martinho is expected to bring strong gusts and widespread rain across Spain and Portugal on Thursday.

Storm Martinho is the fourth storm to hit the region in just 12 days following in close succession from Laurence, Konrad and Jana.
As springtime travel begins to pick up, Irish people set to travel to either of the countries this week or who may already be there are being advised to keep an eye on any local weather updates and advice.
