Met Éireann has forecast a “very warm” day

Temperatures of up to 28 degrees and long spells of sunshine are expected across Ireland today.

Met Éireann has forecast a “very warm” day, with the provisional highest temperature of the year recorded at 24.9 degrees in Dublin’s Phoenix Park yesterday.

It says mist and fog patches should have cleared early this morning, with a dry day ahead.

Temperatures will be between 23 and 28 degrees, with the highest ones expected in Munster and Leinster.

There will be light southerly breezes across the country.

"It will be dry, and although some cloud will affect the northern half of the country at times, there will be plenty of warm or very warm sunshine overall," Met Éireann said.

Tonight will remain warm, with highest temperatures of 15 degrees.

Tomorrow will be “warm or very warm” as well, with a “dry day” and “long spells of sunshine” expected.

Temperatures will remain at 28 degrees for the day again.

Leinster and Munster will be the warmest parts of the country, with the potential for local temperatures to be higher than 28 degrees.

However, it will get cooler “later in the week,” and showers will become a possibility.

Cloud is forecast for Wednesday, but the temperature expected remains relatively high at 20 degrees.

Wednesday night will see the return of possible showers, with patchy rain expected on Thursday.

Sunday is the coolest day forecast, with top temperatures of 17 degrees.
