It is hoped that power will be restored to the affected properties later this morning
Approximately 1,000 premises are this morning without electricity in Greysteel and the surrounding areas.
The power outage was reported to NIE earlier this morning and it's understood engineers are currently on site.
Sinn Féin Councillor Dermot Nicholl said: "Just spoke with NIE about power outage in Greysteel and surrounding areas, currently over 1,000 premises without power but hopefully power will be restored at 11am or sooner. Engineers are on site at the minute."
