Alleged Derry drug dealer released into police custody

A Derry man, currently in custody on charges related to seizures of cocaine and cannabis worth £2.1 million, has been released into police custody for questioning on unrelated matters.

Declan Gallagher (32), originally from Derry but with an address in the Greater Manchester area in England, has been in custody since October when he appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with 17 drugs-related offences, alleged to have taken place between September 2013 and August 2014.

At the time, a PSNI detective told the court Gallagher (pictured) was "a major player" and a principal member of an organised criminal gang.

At Derry Magistrates Court this morning, Gallagher was released into police custody for 24 hours.
