Application process for large scale events at Ebrington Square for 2024 opens

The application process for large scale events at Ebrington Square for 2024 is currently open for applications from music and event promoters.

Applicants are asked to fill out the form and return to Derry and Strabane District Council by November 24.

Responsibility for event management remains with Stormont's Executive Office, however Derry and Strabane District Council have taken over the application process after four concerts scheduled for the square had their permission withdrawn by the Executive Office in August.

That followed a threat of legal action by the Ebrington Hotel, which opened at the square in July. The gigs were then approved after the hotel dropped its objection amid a public backlash.

In September the Executive Office was criticised after confirming it had paid almost £300,000 in compensation to three parties, including a payment of £150,000 to the hotel.
