Art exhibition highlighting abuse against women to open in Derry tomorrow

An exhibition of paintings entitled "Art and Poetry…. An Emotional Journey" will open tomorrow (International Women's Day) at the Eden Place Arts Centre, Pilots Row.
The exhibition by Marjorie Laville Pain paints an all to familiar heart wrenching picture of abuse against women.
Among the bright colours you will see the darkness crying out from these canvases.
The Poetry by Trocaire workers inspired by stories and first hand experiences of women they have been working with puts the pain and suffering carried by the women into words.
Artist Marjorie Laville Pain along with Roisin O'Hara from Trocaire will be launching the exhibition at 7.00pm.
Ms Laville-Pain said: "The significance of physical and emotional abuse cannot be underestimated.
"In the hope of raising awareness, inspire actions and perhaps even changing attitudes, I was driven to connect with my colleagues working for Trocaire worldwide to join me with their poetry.
"This exhibition offers intimate insight into the range, depth and substance of abuse that women experience in the world, thus began this emotional journey into art and poetry."
The exhibition will be on display in Eden Place Arts Centre until 25 March.
