The County Derry nursery recently won awards for ‘Best Rural Daycare’ and ‘Centre of Excellence in childcare’

A Garvagh nursery is celebrating winning an award for ‘Best Rural Nursery' 2025.

Appletree Childcare won the award at the recent Families First NI Awards. Staff members Emily Cochrane, Rosellen O'Kane, Kathryn Finlay, Cathy Faulkner, Alix Campbell, Amy Currie, Keira Culleton, and Megan McKenzie picked up the award on behalf of the Nursery.

The nursery is no stranger to awards, they previously won an award for Centre of Excellence (Coleraine Area) at the Families First Awards in 2016.

Appletree has been firmly rooted in the community for over 20 years. Appletree is run by a committed team of 26 staff members and has a voluntary committee of 7 members. The staff and committee of the nursery have said they are ‘proud’ to have won the awards which were voted by ‘amazing local parents’.

A recent street collection took place for the nursery. The total amount raised was £1,083.

The staff and committee members would like to thank all that took time out of their Saturday to help with the collection. They would also like to thank the police service and everybody who donated on the day of the street collection.

The staff at Appletree recognise that choosing the right childcare is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make and they don’t take that responsibility lightly.

At their award-winning setting, little ones are welcomed into a safe, nurturing space filled with play, learning, and laughter.  A place where they’re supported to grow, make friends, and feel at home while parents get the peace of mind that they’re in the very best hands.

Set in the heart of the rural community, Appletree focuses on outdoor learning and creative play. They believe in the power of play to spark imagination and develop critical skills. All the activities are planned to be fun and engaging as well as having an educational theme running throughout.

They believe rest matters and provide safe, clean and warm sleeping facilities for babies and toddlers to promote restful sleep time.

The nursery is now accepting places for full-time & part-time childcare. They are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

The nursery caters for babies to preschool, and after schools up to 12 years old.

Appletree offers tax free childcare and subsidy schemes which take 35% off your bill.

Get in contact with Appletree by sending them a message to arrange a visit. At the visit you will be able to see the setting and meet staff.
