Bail granted for Derry man who breached bail conditions

Darren Canning (42) of Rinmore Drive in Derry was arrested on October 12 after breaching conditions of previous bail conditions
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court following a breach of a number of bail conditions.
Darren Canning (42) of Rinmore Drive in Derry was arrested on October 12 after being seen by police to be in the front seat of a motor vehicle before going into a shop, both of which he was prohibited from doing as part of previous bail conditions.
One of his conditions was that he is only allowed to enter one shop in the whole of the North and another is that he is not to be a front seat passenger in any vehicle.
The court heard that police observed Canning in the front seat of a vehicle and then saw him entering a shop.
The court also heard that in the back seat of the car was a woman who was on bail herself with conditions including not having any contact with Canning.
Defense solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that Canning had mobility issues that made it difficult to get into the back seat of a car, hence his sitting in the front.
Bail was granted and he will appear again on November 4.
