Call for support for fundaising campaign in aid of young Derry mum
The people of Derry are being called on to donate to an appeal to help a young Derry mother receive pioneering brain surgery in Australia.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to raise the £45,000 needed to remove a life-threatening cyst from her brain.
The call to donate to the fundraising comes from Sinn Fein's Sinn Féin's Gearóid Ó hEára who, along with MEP Martina Anderson, met with Rachel’s family.
He said "like any family," they wanted to do all they could to help her.
.He said: "I was moved by the dedication and determination of Rachel's family in the face of such challenges.
"The people of Derry are renowned for their generosity and I am appealing to them to dig deep and help Rachel and the McGettigan family at this difficult time so that they can raise the money for this much-needed operation.
"The family have set up an online fundraising campaign and I would encourage people to support them by kindly donating."
