Popular folk singer Cara Dillon has been left ‘really shocked’ after she was shot in the face with BB pellets while walking through a town in England last night.

Posting on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, the Dungiven native posted an image of some of the pellets that hit her and said: “Walking through Frome tonight I was shot in the face by a BB gun multiple times by someone from a passing vehicle.

“I’m ok but really, really shocked, the police have been great. Be aware x”

The County Derry Post contacted Ms Dillon’s record company, Charcoal Records, and were informed that Cara was ‘not up for talking about the incident right now’.

The spokesperson added that she was “lucky that they used some kind of gel based pellets and not the plastic ones.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Officers are investigating two reports of individuals being hit by a suspected BB gun pellet in Bath Street and Rodden Road in Frome.

"Thankfully, we do not believe anyone has been seriously injured or required any medical treatment and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"We are asking anyone with any information to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting reference 5224144931 to the call handler."

Cara has been living in Frome, Somerset with her husband and three children for over 20 years and describes the area as ‘beautiful’.

Ms Dillon is currently playing shows across the UK as part of her 'COMING HOME' tour.
