Three men who were supposed to have a Preliminary Enquiry today on charges linked to the claim of responsibility for the shooting of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell in Omagh in February last year have had their case adjourned due to the volume of papers in the case.
Tiernan McFadden (26) of Carnhill, Caolan Brogan (24) of Bluebellhill Gardens and Joseph Anthony Campbell aka Farren (23) of Goshaden Cottages all in Derry all face two charges of possessing articles for use in terrorism and disseminating a terrorist publication namely the claim of responsibility for the shooting and threats of future violence against security forces.
Both offences were said to have occurred on February 26, 2023.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott for Brogan told the court that counsel were involved and asked for an adjournment as the volume of papers in the case was heavy.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley for Campbell aka Farren said that while his client had had PE papers served he had yet to be summoned on the charges.
The adjournment was granted and the PE will now take place on June 19.
All three are on bail.
