A Derry man is to have his first hair cut in ten years in aid of two charities.

JP Conaghan (pictured) is to use the occasion to raise funds for Foyle Search and Rescue and donate what he describes as his “luscious ginger locks” to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs to boys and girls who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

He is hoping to raise £3,000 for Foyle Search and Rescue.

He said: “I have been growing my hair for ten years and it now feels like the time to cut it all off.

“It costs £1,500 to equip and train one volunteer for Foyle Search and Rescue.. They are a voluntary based charity and provide an essential service to the people of Derry.” JP will have his hair cut in Bennigan's Bar, John Street in Derry on 21 October.

He said: “Please join me.”
