County Derry man charged with attempted murder of a woman returned for trial

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court charged with the attempted murder of a woman.

Stephen McLaughlin (44) of Alexander Road in Limavady appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with, on September 19 2022, attempted murder, making threats to kill against a woman, damaging a car and dangerous driving, all of which were aggravated by domestic abuse.

He was also charged with assaulting two other woman on the same date.

It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

McLaughlin chose not to make any statement and not to call any witnesses at this stage.

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on September 20 in custody.
