Creative Connections NI launches July Friday lunchtime sing-alongs in Derry

From 1960s pop to homegrown local heroes, a five-week summer sing-along series is set to unite the city in harmony
Local musical duo Creative Connections NI is launching a vibrant, five-week community sing-along series this July at the historic First Derry Presbyterian Church.
Happening every Friday from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, these lunchtime sessions offer local residents a unique opportunity to boost their wellbeing and connect with others through the power of song.
Led by experienced Derry musicians Kathleen and Mags, Creative Connections NI delivers transformative music workshops designed to elevate mental wellness and their programme focuses on connection and creativity.
They remove the traditional barriers to choir singing - there are no auditions, no sheet music to read, and no wrong notes, just the power of voices coming together in harmony. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their musical background.
Because July features five Fridays, attendees will enjoy a full month of varied musical themes, including a special "extra" session at the end of the month:
- Friday, July 3: Swinging 60's - A nostalgic trip through the golden era of pop.
- Friday, July 10: Movie Classics - Belting out unforgettable cinematic soundtracks.
- Friday, July 17: Folk Favourites - Celebrating rich, traditional songs.
- Friday, July 24: Local Heroes - Honouring the incredible musical heritage of Derry and beyond.
- Friday, July 31: Week 5 "Extra" - A bonus session to wrap up the summer series.
Creative Connections Community Sing-Alongs take place at First Derry Presbyterian Church, Upper Magazine Street, Derry, BT48 6HG, every Friday in July (3, 10, 17, 24, 31 July) from 12:30pm – 1:30pm
Members of the public are invited to drop in, bring a friend, and experience the uplifting benefits of group singing. No prior booking is required.
