Death threat lifted against Community Safety Wardens in Derry
A threat against Community Safety Wardens in Derry has been lifted, it emerged tonight.
The threat was issued by dissident republicans last week against the wardens who are employed by Derry City Council.
As a result, the wardens were taken off duty.
A protest against the threat was held outside the council's headquarters on Friday (see above) and another protest was planned for tomorrow.
However, it has emerged this evening that the threat has been lifted.
Tommy McCourt, from the Rosemount Resource Centre, who had made the council aware of the original threat, said the threat had now been lifted following negotiations over the weekend.
