Derry City are to retire the club’s number 18 jersey in tribute to Mark Farren.

The 33-year-old, the club’s all-time leading scoring, passed away this morning after a long battle with cancer.

A minute’s silence is to take place in the 18th minute during City’s pre-season friendly against Ballymena United on Friday night.

There have also been calls for the stand to be built as part of the redevelopment of Brandywell Stadium to be named after the Greencastle man.
