Derry Court: Youth with 'horrendous' bail history rebailed

Derry Magistrate's Court heard on Monday that police were on 'a countdown' to a youth's 18th birthday after the 17-year-old breached his bail for the thirtieth occasion.

The youth who cannot be named due to his age appeared charged with breaching his bail by not observing his curfew. 

The court heard that police were called that the youth had not returned for his curfew. 

Police were called again at 2.30am and told the youth had returned and he was arrested. 

The police officer said that the youth's bail history was 'horrendous' and police were waiting for December when the youth turns 18 and is subject to the adult court.

The youth was rebailed to appear at the Youth Court.
