The following deaths have occurred:-
Catriona Johnston, 94 Altcar Park, Derry
The death has occurred of Catriona Johnston, 6th December 2022, beloved daughter of Pauline and Gregory, 94 Altcar Park, loving sister of Pauline, Jennifer, Claire and Dylan and much loved auntie of Eimear, Conor, Jamie, Oisin, Ella and Eabha. Funeral from her home on Sunday at 9.15am for 9.45am funeral Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Galliagh. Interment afterwards in the City cemetery. Family time please from 9.00pm to 11.00am. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if wished, to the Foyle Hospice, 61 Culmore Road, Derry, BT48 8JE. Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for her.
Martin McGill, 2B Abbott’s Walk, Derry
The death has taken place of Martin McGill, 8th December 2022, (peacefully) at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, beloved son of Mary and the late John, late of 2B Abbott’s Walk, loving brother of Kathy, Donna and the late John and Michael, dear father of the late Kerry-Ann and grandfather of Aliesha. Funeral from his aunt Kathleen’s home, 102 Foyle Road, on Monday at 9.30am for 10o’clock Requiem Mass in St Columba’s Church, Longtower. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
James (Banty) Nash, 115 St. Eithnes Park, Derry
The death has taken place of James (Banty) Nash, 8th December 2022, (peacefully) at Altnagelvin Hospital, beloved husband of the late Margaret, loving father of Noel, James, Janice, Mairead, Michelle, Padraig and the late Rhondalee, devoted grandfather of Lochlann, Rhondalee, Grace and Bobbieleigh, a dear and loving brother and uncle. Funeral leaving his home, 115 St. Eithnes Park, on Sunday, 11th December at 11.50am to Holy Family Church, Ballymagroarty for Funeral Mass at 12.30pm. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul. Our Lady of Lourdes intercede for him.
Norman Richard Sheppard, 13 Caw Close, Derry
The death has occurred of Norman Richard Sheppard, 9th December 2022, at the City Hospital, late of 13 Caw Close. Beloved father of Barnaby and the late Jamie, loving brother of Allan and Ann. Funeral service in Adair and Neely Funeral Home at 12noon on Wednesday, 14th December followed by burial in Ballyoan Cemetery. Deeply regretted by his loving family and friends. The Lord is my shepherd.
Martha Stewart (née Nelson), Queens Avenue, Magherafelt
Martha Stewart (née Nelson), 9th December 2022, (peacefully) at Antrim Area Hospital, Martha (in her 93rd year), The Oasis, and formerly of Queens Avenue, Magherafelt, dearly beloved wife of the late Ernest (Ernie), much loved and devoted mother of Isobel, Rita, Doreen, Martha, Anne, Jean, and Ernest, dear mother-in-law of Johnny, Mervyn, Harry and Audrey, also a loving granny, great-granny and great-great-granny and dearest sister of the late Millie, Doris and Sammy. Family and friends welcome in Garvin’s Funeral Home, 15 Ballyronan Road, Magherafelt, BT45 6BP on Saturday evening from 7.00pm – 8.30pm. Funeral from Garvin’s Funeral Home on Sunday, 11th December at 2.00pm, for service in St. Swithin’s Parish Church, Magherafelt at 2.45pm approx., followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if desired, for Dementia NI and Marina Care Home Patients’ Comfort Fund, payable to Garvin’s Funeral Service (Donations A/c). Gregory Peter Wild, Strabane Old Road, Derry
The death has taken place of Gregory Peter Wild, 7th December 2022, (peacefully) at Altnagelvin Hospital, (late of Strabane Old Road), beloved husband of Iris, loving son of the late Elizabeth (Molly) Bradshaw, dear cousin of Gerard McReavy, a loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral leaving his cousin Gerard’s home, 21 Grovemount Court, on Saturday, 10th December at 9.20am to Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Steelstown Road for Requiem Mass at 10.00am followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. Sacred Heart Of Jesus have mercy on his soul. Our Lady Of Lourdes intercede for him.
