Obituaries
The following deaths have occurred:-
David Comiskey, Derry (formerly of Lurgan)
The death has taken place of David Comiskey, 29th October 2023, (Derry, formerly of Lurgan), unexpectedly at home. David, son of Tony Comiskey and the late Marie (McAvoy) and stepson of the late Joseph McAvoy, a much loved brother of Elaine, Shelleen and Michael, he will will always be loved by his nieces and nephews. David will repose at his sister Shelleen’s home where a private wake will be held for family members only. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 1.00pm at Lakelands Crematorium, County Cavan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, if desired to, NI Chest Heart & Stroke, C/o McAlinden & Murtagh Funeral Directors, 2 North Street, Lurgan, Telephone 028 3832 4404. Always remembered by his entire family circle.
James McGuinness, 5 Hawthorn Park, Greysteel
The death has taken place of James McGuinness, 1st November 2023, loving father of Cathy and Conor, beloved son of the late George and Cissie, dear brother of Leo, Kevin, Gerard, Helen, John, Geraldine and Jude and a much loved uncle. His remains will be reposing in his home, 5 Hawthorn Park, Greysteel. Funeral from there on Friday at 10.25am for 11o’clock Requiem Mass in Star of the Sea Church, Faughanvale. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
Elizabeth Hegan McNeill (née Carson), Trinity House, Garvagh
The death has occurred of Elizabeth Hegan McNeill (née Carson), 1st November 2023, peacefully at Causeway Hospital, late of Trinity House, Garvagh. Dearly loved wife of the late William much loved step-mother of Jane (Brian), Miriam (Roy) and Neil (Tik); a much loved twin sister of Rosemary (in Canada), loved grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt of Rik and John and families. Service of Thanksgiving and Cremation in Roselawn Crematorium, Belfast, on Thursday, 9th November, at 3.20pm. Family flowers only please. Donations, if wished, to R.N.L.I. The death has taken place of Robert Lynn Maguire (Bobby) Dysart, 1st November 2023, peacefully at The Robinson Hospital, 50 Hazelbank Road, Coleraine. Dearly loved husband of the late Isobel, loving father of Lynn, Jillian, Brian, Jennifer and the late David and a much loved father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Iris Elizabeth Matthews (née Cummings), Castlerock
The death has taken place of Iris Elizabeth Matthews (née Cummings), 29th October 2023, (suddenly abroad in Spain). Dearly loved wife of Robert, Castlerock. Devoted mother to Stacey and Robert; loving grandmother to Carson, Alisha, Cora and Robert. Funeral arrangements later.
Patrick Moore, 32 Barry Street, Derry (updated arrangements)
The death has occurred of the late Patrick Moore, 31st October 2023, suddenly at his home, 32 Barry Street, beloved husband of June, loving father of Patrick, Michael, Stephen, Damian, Martin, Ann and Mark, a dear and loving grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in-law to his son-in-law and daughters-in-law, and loving brother to Kay. Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by the wider family circle and friends. Patrick will be reposing at his home on Thursday from 11.00pm to 10.00am. Funeral leaving his home on Friday, 3rd November at 9.20am to St. Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn for Requiem Mass at 10.00am. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Diarmuid Mullan, 8 Bradagh Fold, Dungiven
We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Diarmuid Mullan, suddenly but peacefully, at Ballyoan House on 31st October 2023. May he rest in peace. Late of 8 Bradagh Fold, Dungiven, Co Derry. Beloved son of Josie and the late Barney Mullan R.I.P. Loving brother of Suzanne, Margaret, Teresa, Peter, Christine and Deirdre. Deeply regretted by his brothers in law, nieces, nephews and the entire family circle. Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) R.I.P and loving mother of Paula Dunlop (Sam), Lisa McCann (Jamie) Peter Newsome (Tina) and the late Helena Boyd R.I.P (David). Much loved grandmother of David, Richard, Hannah, Ethan, Joseph, Kevin, Eóin, Kathryn, Liam and Seán and great grandmother of Ty, Lincoln and Graham. Dear sister of Jimmy, Malachy, Johnny, Brendan, Moira and the late Hughie, Jessie, Terence and Annie R.I.P. Vincent Strunks, Derry
The death has taken place of Vincent Strunks, 1st November 2023, peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital, beloved husband of Marion, loving father of Dwyer, Joseph and the late Vincent, devoted grandfather of Chloe and J.J., dear son of the late Captain Joseph and Mary, cherished brother of Margaret, Gerard, Liz and John. Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by the wider family circle and friends. Vincent will be reposing in the community hall St. Mary’s Church, Creggan on Wednesday, 1st November from 6.00pm and Thursday from 11.00am to 10.00pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Creggan on Friday, 3rd November at 10.00am. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart Of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
