The following deaths have occurred:-
Hugh Cassidy, 290 Carnhill, Derry
We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Hugh Cassidy, (peacefully) at his home on 8th May 2023. Late of 290 Carnhill and formerly of 50 Argyle Street. May he rest in peace. Beloved husband of Philomena. Devoted father of Martin, Sharon and Patrick. Loving granda of Kayleigh, Megan and Luke. A much loved great-granda of Jayden, Erica, Conán and Oisín. Dearest brother of Grace and the late John, Sheila, Margaret and Gerard. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle, friends and neighbours. Hugh’s remains will be reposing at his late family residence, 290 Carnhill. Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday, 10th May at 9.40am for 10.15am Requiem Mass in St. Brigid’s Church, Carnhill. Samuel James (Sammy) Jones, 9 Brown Drive, Maghera
The death has taken place of Samuel James (Sammy) Jones, called home 8th May 2023, (peacefully) in the loving care of his family, Samuel James (Sammy), dearly beloved husband of Sylvia, 9 Brown Drive, Maghera, much loved father of Victor and Stephen, loving and devoted granda of Jolene, Gary, Lauren, Brian, Megan, Jack and Caitlyn, cherished great-grandfather of Jake, Matthew, Chloe, Josh and Bobby and dearest brother of Bobby, Nessie and the late James, Marion and Tia. House strictly private. Family and friends welcome in Garvin’s Funeral Home, 15 Ballyronan Road, BT45 6BP on Tuesday evening (9th May) from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. Funeral service in Garvin’s Funeral Home on Wednesday (10th May) at 1.00pm followed by burial in Maghera Presbyterian Churchyard. Family flowers only please. Jim McCloskey, 73 Ardnamoyle Park, Derry
The death has taken place of Jim McCloskey, 6th May 2023, beloved husband of Jackie, 73 Ardnamoyle Park, Shantallow, loving father of James, Ashling, Nadine, Leah and Bronagh, devoted grandfather of Lilly, Laila, Faith, Logan, AJ, Fayah, Lennon, Alfie, Finn, Noah, Theo, Avery, Zara and the late baby Hope, son of the late Lexi and Kathleen and a much loved father-in-law of Amy, Aaron, Mark and Joe and a dear brother. His remains will be reposing in his home. Funeral from there on Wednesday at 9.30am for 10o’clock Requiem Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Steelstown. Interment afterwards in the City cemetery. Dearly loved wife of the late Clarke; loving mother of Kenneth (Mary), Alan and Claire (Derek); devoted Nana of Karen (James), Laura (David), James, the late Baby Kenneth, Adam and Mark and great Nana of Daniel, Judith, Matthew and Zara. The death has occurred of Jean Rainey (née Henry), 8th May 2023, (peacefully) at The Causeway Hospital, dearly beloved wife of the late John, 1 Carsonville Drive, Upperlands, much loved and devoted mother of Jacqueline, Eileen, Stephen and the late baby Charles, a dear mother-in-law of Norman and Carol, dearly loved granny of Lauren, Michael, Rachel, Emma, Bethany-Grace and Caleb, great granny of Sarah-Louise, Emilee, Anna, James and Ella and dearest sister of Ena, Robert, Margaret, Godfrey, Eleanor, Raphael, Philip, Christine, Anne, Eunice and the late Annie-Mary, Carson, Thomas and Sadie. Funeral from her home on Thursday, 11th May at 1.00pm to D. Watters Funeral Home, Tobermore, for service at 2.00pm, followed by burial in St. Lurach's Parish Churchyard, Maghera at 3.15pm (approx.).
