Obituaries
The following deaths have occurred:-
Malachy Bradley, 72 Carnhill, Derry
The death has taken place of Malachy Bradley, 14th August 2023, beloved husband of Kay, 72 Carnhill, loving father of Malachy, Brendan and Karen, father-in-law of Paula, Jacqueline and Donal, devoted grandfather of Páraic, Aodhfionn, Dearbhla, Eva, Aaron and Adam and a much loved brother and brother-in-law. His remains will be reposing in his son’s home, 54 Cashelmore Park, on Wednesday from 11.00am to 9.00pm. Funeral from there on Thursday at 11.25am for 12o’clock Requiem Mass in St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
Kathleen Clarke (née Coyle), 19 Drumleck Gaedens, Derry
The death has taken place of Kathleen Clarke (née Coyle), 15th August 2023, beloved daughter of the late Cassie and Sonny Coyle, loving sister of Angela and the late Denim, Jamsey and Sonny and a much loved aunt. Her remains will be reposing at the family home, 19 Drumleck Gardens from 4.00pm today (Wednesday). Funeral from there on Friday at 10o’clock for 10.30am Requiem Mass in St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for her.
Evelyn Daly (née Quinn), 3 Magan Court, Ballymagroarty, Derry
The death has taken place of Evelyn Daly (née Quinn), (peacefully) at Foyle hospice on 15th August 2023. Wife of the Late Eamon Much loved Mother of Daniel, Brendan, Kevin and Declan. Loving Grandmother of Lucas, Cara, Isla and Brendan Og. Loving daughter of the late Rose and Michael. Dear sister of Pauline, Rosemary, Colm, Seamus, Brendan, John and the Late Caroline. Funeral from her home, 3 Magan Court, Ballymagroarty on Thursday at 9.20am to Holy Family Church, Ballymagroarty for Requiem Mass at 10.00am. Interment afterwards in St Mary's Cemetery, Ardmore. Áine Donaghy, 18 Killane Road, Limavady
The death has taken place of Áine Donaghy, 13th August 2023, beloved daughter of James and Ann, 18 Killane Road, Limavady, loving sister of James, Tiernan and Cormac, cherished granddaughter of Patrick and Geraldine Graffin and Jim and the late Monica Donaghy. House private please. Funeral from her home on Wednesday at 11.30am for 12o’clock Requiem Mass in Christ The King Church, Limavady. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Brian James, Derry
The death has occurred of Brian James, 18th March 1948 - 25th March 2023 (Aged 75 Years). Brian died peacefully with his family by his side. He grew up in Ferguson Street, Derry, then moved to England in 1969. Brian will be making his journey, to the place he always called home, to be laid to rest with his late Mother and Father today (Wednesday, 16th August 2023). Brian’s family would like to extend an invite to all his friends to the graveside service, at 12.00noon Altnagelvin Cemetery.
Doreen Lennox (née Farrel), 15 Woodvale Road, Moneymore
The death has taken place of Doreen Lennox (née Farrel), 15th August 2023, (peacefully) at her home, 15 Woodvale Road, Moneymore, dearly beloved wife of the late Sandy, much loved mother of Colin, Hazel, Cecil, Karen and Heather, dear mother-in-law of Yvonne, David, Rhonda, Richard and Frankie also a loving grandmother and great-grandmother and dearest sister of George, Cecil, Ivan, Iris and the late Harold and Eric. House Private. Funeral from her home on Friday (August 18th) at 1.15pm for service in Calvary Free Presbyterian Church, Magherafelt at 2.00pm followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard. David Clyde McCartney, 30 Drummond Park, Derry
The death has occurred of David Clyde McCartney, 13th August 2023, at his home, late of 30 Drummond Park, Derry, beloved son of the late Margaret and Billy McCartney, brother of Marie, Anne, Greg, Paul and the late Billy, Martin, John, Mark and Conor, beloved godfather to Maggy and Mollie-Grace, adoring uncle to his many nephews and nieces and very special friend of Didi Garnon. David's remains were interred yesterday, in accordance with his wishes, after a private burial, in the family plot in the City Cemetery. “Semper magna et superbus.”
Doris Moore (née Platt), 27 Bonds Street, Derry
The death has occurred of Doris Moore (née Platt), 15th August 2023, (peacefully) at Altnagelvin Hospital, beloved wife of the late Jackie, 27 Bonds Street, loving mother of Derek, Richard and Janice, a much loved grandmother and great-grandmother and dear sister of the late Richard and James. Her remains will be reposing in her home on Wednesday from 6.00pm to 10.00pm. Funeral service there on Thursday at 2.00pm. Interment afterwards in Ballyoan Cemetery. Family flowers only please. The death has taken place of James Scullion, (suddenly but peacefully) beloved husband of Mary (nèe O’Connor); loving father of Seamus, Denise (Doherty), Leona (Scullion), Carla (Duggan) and Debbie (Holmes) and a much-adored Granda. Son of the late John and Margaret and dear brother of Sr. Kathleen, Harry, Margaret, Mickey, John, Anne, Gerard, Carmel and the late Mary. James’s wake will commence today (Wednesday) at 12noon.
