Obituaries
The following deaths have occurred:-
Paul Downey, Carnhill, Derry
The death has taken place of Paul Downey, 27th December 2022, (peacefully) at Altnagelvin Hospital, formerly of Carnhill, loving son of the late Molly and much loved brother of Kenneth, Brian, Lee, Barbara, Donna, Monica, Catherine and the late Stella. Funeral from his sister’s home, 98 Waterfoot Park, on Thursday at 11.30am for 12o’clock Requiem Mass in St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
Patrick (Patsy) Kennedy, 27 Bancran Road, Draperstown
The death has occurred of Patrick (Patsy) Kennedy (Ballinascreen), 26th December 2022, (peacefully) at home surrounded by his loving family, beloved husband of Bridie; loving father of Patrick (Anita), Anne Marie Murray (Michael), Maureen McGonigle (Martin), Sean (Donna), Caroline Glendinning (Adrian), Pauline McMullan (Michael) and the late Mary and Thomas (who died in infancy) and a much adored grandfather. Son of the late Thomas and Mary and dear brother of Margaret Mary Loane and the late Tommy, John and Mickey. Funeral from his late residence, 27 Bancran Road, Draperstown BT45 7DA on Thursday, 29th December at 11.15am for 12noon Requiem Mass in St. Eugene’s Church, Moneyneana. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. (Mass will be broadcast live on the Devlin Media Facebook Page). Sacred Heart of Jesus pray for him. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife, sons, daughters, 21 grandchildren, sister and the Kennedy and Donnelly family circle. Family flowers only please. Jim Joe McAlary, 485 Beechview Gardens, Kilrea
The death has occurred of Jim Joe McAlary, 27th December 2022, (peacefully) beloved husband of the recently deceased Kathleen and loving father of James, Michelle (Burke), Ciaran, Shauna and the late Baby Damian. Son of the late Michael and Mary and loving brother of Margaret Anne and the late Mary Jane and Susanna. Jim Joe’s wake will commence on Wednesday at 11.00am. Family time please from 10.00pm to 11.00am. Funeral from his late residence, 485 Beechview Gardens, on Friday at 10.15am for 11o’clock Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Drumagarner. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery. St. Peregrine pray for Him. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and the entire McAlary family circle. No flowers please. William James (Billy) McCloskey, Queens Park, Coleraine
The death has taken place of William James (Billy) McCloskey, 27th December 2022, (peacefully) at St James Lodge, Ballymoney, late of Queens Park, Coleraine. Dearly loved husband of Florence Joyce (Joy), much loved father of Pamela, Sandra and Wilkie and a dear father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother of Mary. Funeral Service in Kildollagh Parish Church on Thursday at 11.30am. A private family committal will take place another time. Family flowers only please. Maoliosa Matthews (née Gallagher), 78 Scroggy Road, Limavady - Updated funeral arrangements
The death has occurred of Maoliosa Matthews (née Gallagher), 24th December 2022, (suddenly) at her home, 78 Scroggy Road, Limavady. Beloved wife of William, loving mother of Capri and Aston, dear daughter of Catherine and the late George Gallagher R.I.P., sister of Sharon, David, Lucy, Goergie, Shane and the late Gregory. Deeply regretted by all the family circle. Wake will commence today at 12noon. Private family time from 9.00pm to 11.00am please. Funeral service in her home on Thursday, 29th December at 11.45am followed by interment in Enagh Cemetery Limavady. Harold Scott, 46 Beechland Road, Magherafelt
The death has taken place of Harold Scott, 27th December 2022, (suddenly) at his home, 46 Beechland Road, Magherafelt, much loved and devoted son of Elizabeth, dearly loved brother of George, Joyce, Dorothy, David and Derek and the late infant William, step brother of Jim (Canniffe) and the late Anthony, husband of June, father of Cherith, Jordan and the late Richard, grandfather of Tyler, Kai, Grayson and Colby, also a dear uncle and brother-in-law. House strictly private. Funeral arrangements later. Lovingly remembered by the entire family circle.
Linda Joyce Stepp/Goligher (née Turner), 24A Ebrington Oaks, Waterside, Derry
The death has taken place of Linda Joyce Stepp/Goligher (née Turner), 27th December 2022, (peacefully) at Altnagelvin Hospital (surrounded by her loving family) dearly beloved wife of the late Frank, much loved mum of Ian, Corinna, Laura, and the late Martin, adored granny and great-granny, dearest sister of Johnny, June, Charlie, Irene, David, Karen, Julie and the late Sylvia. Funeral leaving her late home, 24A Ebrington Oaks, Waterside, on Thursday, 29th December, at 12.00noon, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving for her life in Glendermott Parish Church at 12.30pm burial afterwards in Ballyoan Cemetery. Family flowers only donations in lieu if desired to Glendermott Parish Church c/o " Rectory Office " Church Brae, Altnagelvin, Derry BT47 2LS. Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her entire family circle.
Nevin White, 3 Shellbridge Park, Coleraine
The death has taken place of Nevin White, 23rd December 2022, (peacefully) at his home, 3 Shellbridge Park, Coleraine, dearly loved husband of Jean, much-loved father of Len, Eddie, Joanne, Alison, Louise and Cathy, a dear father-in-law, devoted granda, great-granda and a beloved brother. Service in his home on Thursday at 2.00pm followed by interment in Coleraine Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Robert Whiteside, Derry
The death has occurred of Rev. Fr. Robert Whiteside (Derry, Diocese of Leeds and All Hallows College Dublin), (peacefully) died 24th December 2022 in the loving care of Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home, Dalkey. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Rose. Fr. Robert will be sadly missed by his All Hallows Alumni, the The Bishop, priests and the Leeds community plus his very his large circle of friends. Reposing in All Hallows Chapel, Drumcondra at 11.00am on Thursday, 29th December, followed by Funeral Mass at 12.00o'clock. Removal to Derry and Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, Tamnaherin, Derry BT473AU at 12o`clock on Friday, 30th December, burial immediately afterwards in the local cemetery.
