Derry man charged with assaulting his mother remanded

Jamie Lee McCarron (30) of Slievemore Park in Derry appeared charged with assaulting his mother on September 8, making a threat to kill her on the same date and carrying out a course of action deemed to be domestic abuse
A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with assaulting his mother.
Jamie Lee McCarron (30) of Slievemore Park in Derry appeared charged with assaulting his mother on September 8, making a threat to kill her on the same date and carrying out a course of action deemed to be domestic abuse.
McCarron was also charged with possessing cocaine and Diazepam again on the same date.
The court heard that police were called after an altercation between McCarron and his mother and he was arrested.
Bail was opposed due to the risk of re-offending given the defendant's record.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client could be released to an address approved by the PSNI.
District Judge Oonagh Mullan said that the defendant's record was bad and she felt he was not a suitable candidate for bail.
McCarron was remanded in custody to appear again next month.
