A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with non-fatal strangulation and assault of his partner.
Derek Lishman (41) of Clooney Mews in Derry was charged with the offences that were said to have occurred on February 11 in an incident that was caught on CCTV.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that the charge of non-fatal strangulation was likely to go, leaving just the assault charge.
The court also heard that Lishman has not had a conviction in twelve years and has no domestic history, with the injured party said to not be engaging with police.
Bail was not objected to and he was released with conditions including no contact with the injured party, not consuming alcohol and following a curfew.
He will appear again on March 13.
