A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with a number of drug offences.

Peter Fox (40) of Spencer Road in Derry was charged with, between an unknown date and October 9 2024, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and converting criminal property, namely cash.

He was also charged with, on October 9, being in possession of Diazepam.

Between May and September 2024, Fox was charged with being in possession of herbal cannabis and, on July 3, conspiring to be concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Police told the court that, on May 30 last year, Border Force intercepted a parcel being delivered to Fox's address containing cannabis.

Upon searching his residence, police found a number of items including scales, bags, traces of a white powder later found to be cocaine, almost £20,000 in cash and diazepam.

Fox arrived as police were searching and his phone was seized by police and screenshots showed that Fox had been tracking the packages that had been intercepted.

Police also found messages that seemed to confirm that he was involved in the supply of drugs and used two runners.

When interviewed by police, Fox claimed to simply be a bag man in the operation.

Defense solicitor Derwin Harvey said that Fox had agreed to let his residence be used for the delivery of drugs and received payment in a small amount of cannabis that he used to make cannabis oil in order to deal with pain.

He added that Fox had co-operated with police, bringing his phone to the scene of the search and giving police the pin code.

He said that Fox had received bail in October for three months and returned of his own accord on January 9.

Bail was granted on a number of conditions, including that Fox not communicate with any of the other witnesses, he not be in possession of a mobile phone and he obey a curfew.

He will appear again on February 6.
