Derry man denies 'sexual touching' of eighteen year old girl

Police objected to bail as Alan Luukas has thirteen previous breaches, eleven breaches of court orders and is at clear risk of reoffending
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with non-consensual touching of an eighteen year old girl after consuming Buckfast and medication.
Alan Luukas (57) of Foyle Park in Derry was charged after he had allegedly approached a young woman who was waiting for a lift and began touching her arm and making sexual comments.
Luukas was said to have been 'extremely intoxicated', slurring his words and almost falling on the alleged injured party.
When she was collected by her mother, the woman identified Luukas and reported the incident to police, who then arrested him.
When interviewed, Luukas admitted to being in the area and said that he'd consumed Buckfast and medication at the time but denied any sexual touching.
Police objected to bail as Luukas has thirteen previous breaches, eleven breaches of court orders and is at clear risk of reoffending.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that Luukas has no history of sexual offences and is the carer for his brother who suffers from MS.
Bail was denied and he will appear again on September 11.
