Oscar-winner James Martin and activist Eoin Kenny lead record 80-strong team for Mencap

This Sunday (May 3), Oscar and BAFTA-winning actor James Martin and disability activist Eoin Kenny will lead a historic team of 80 participants in the Phoenix Energy Belfast City Marathon, marking the 80th anniversary of the learning disability charity, Mencap.

The record-breaking "Team Mencap" is the largest group the charity has ever fielded for the event. The 80 participants represent one for every year of Mencap’s history since its founding in 1946. Among them is Mencap Ambassador James Martin, who will run the first and final legs of the relay race.

Joining James is Eoin Kenny, a Derry-based campaigns assistant and disability activist who has been using his marathon preparation to advocate for more inclusive gym facilities across Northern Ireland.
