Derry man remanded after breaching bail conditions

The man was on bail for a number of charges, including resisting and assaulting police, sexual assault, criminal damage, disorderly behaviour and possession of Class C drugs
A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrates’ Court following a breach of his bail conditions.
Michael McMahon (35) of Clon Elagh in Derry was on bail for a number of charges, including resisting and assaulting police, sexual assault, criminal damage, disorderly behaviour and possession of Class C drugs.
A condition of his bail was a total prohibition of alcohol.
On July 8, police were called to a domestic incident and found McMahon to be under the influence of alcohol.
A breath test gave a reading of 150mgs with the legal limit for driving being 35mgs.
He was on bail for three separate sets of charges and had breach each set numerous times.
Police objected to bail as they say they have zero confidence he will abide by any conditions.
Defence Barrister Sinead Rogan said that McMahon 'has a problem with alcohol', adding that his cases 'have been going on an abnormally long time'.
Bail was refused and he will appear again on July 30.
