Derry man remanded on bail breach after threatening to break victim's jaw

Defendant remanded three days after release following a fresh street assault
A man has been remanded at Derry Magistrate's Court following a breach of bail and a new charge of assault.
Frankie Lynn (21) of Rockmills in Derry had been released on bail on August 11 for a number of charges, including possession of an offensive weapon and disorderly behaviour.
His bail conditions included that he abide by a curfew at an address approved by police and abstain from alcohol.
On August 14, Lynn was reported not to be at his address and police found him outside it upon arrival, subsequently finding out that he was wanted for an alleged assault earlier that day when he was said to have approached a man from behind and threatened to break his jaw.
The alleged injured party said that they still hear a ringing in their ears.
When police arrived, Lynn refused to take a preliminary breath test and answered 'no comment' when interviewed.
Police objected to bail as Lynn has seventy previous convictions and fifteen previous breaches of bail.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott called Lynn's behaviour 'very low level', adding that Lynn 'doesn't know the alleged injured party' and had no reason to assault him.
Bail was refused and he will appear again on September 10.
