Derry man to face trial on a series of domestic violence charges

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of domestic violence charges. 

Caolán Hayden, 31, of Beraghvale in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today. 

He was charged charged with attempted grievous bodily harm, assault, threats to kill, threats to destroy property and resisting police on October 24, 2022.

The court heard that the case was aggravated by means of being domestic in nature.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Hayden said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

Hayden was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on October 5 and remanded in custody.
