Derry man to face trial on burglary charge

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a charge of burglary.

Shane Kavanagh (27) of Patrick Street in Derry appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today.

He faces one charge of entering a shop in Foyleside Shopping Centre and stealing mobile phones and other devices on December 1 last year.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

Kavanagh said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on September 6 and remanded in custody.
